Laundry Chore Sheet

My son came home asking me to buy him a ton of books from scholastic. I said, "no," then he asked if he could earn them! I said, "of course." So I used stock imagery to quickly make this chore page. I may have to limit him on how much he can earn in a month!!! Hope you can use it too!

Outdoor Study of Frogs Plaza

Water color study of Frogs Plaza!
Im trying to work on colors and environments. I usually only spend no more than one hour on a study but for this one I wanted to try to apply more rules of color and shadows so it took a few more hours! This was my first thorough study of environments! It was a lot of fun!  5.5" x4"

Cruella Deville - The Drawing Club

Like always, this was a great theme for the Drawing Club! The model was dressed flawlessly as Cruella Deville, from her fur coat to her messy hair! These were quick sketches and I was trying to experiment with Fashion Illustration using ink and wash.

Hippo's in Flight

I did this illustration for a sketchoholic competition "James Robertson".  This was my friends idea and it was so funny to me! If two hippos were to escape from the circus by being shot out of a canon... this is what they would look like!!!

Clock - Water Color

Lunch break - water color study of an outdoor clock. The lights that reflected off the clock were so beautiful but challenging to capture on such a dark surface. 4.5"x2"

Whaler's Cove - Monterey Bay

This was so fun to paint because I only had 20min to rush sketch it with water color pencils and then painted the rest from my imagination/memory throughout the week. It is of Whaler's Cove in Monterey Bay during Memorial Day weekend. 4"x7" Water color.

Monterey Bay -Fisherman's Wharf

We went to Monterey Bay, Fisherman's Wharf during the Memorial Day weekend and painted on the wharf. It was super crowded so this study is a little rushed but it was still fun to be out!
3"x4" Water Color.

Plant - Water Color Study

Rainy day with no where to go so I went down stairs and painted this plant at a cafe. Surprisingly there was still natural warm and cool shadows even though it was gloomy. 3"x2"

Movie Theater Window - Water Color Study

Lunch break (April) - water color study of a theater window 2"x3". I mainly used the water color pencils and found it easier to work at a smaller scale for the studies. The colors of the window were naturally super vibrant and great to color!

Water Color - Column

This is a water color study 2"x 3"that I painted in April . I only had an hour to paint it during my lunch break. I was trying to accomplish the cool and warm shadows. It was really challenging but lots of fun.

Frida Kahlo - Caricature

The model, Malo might not look like Frida in real life but her makeup was done so perfect that she truly capture what I believed to be the essence of Frida! It was exciting to draw her and this was my 2nd attempt at using Gouche. I was able to capture the vibrant colors I was looking for. But next time I would like the colors to be more vibrant!

Russian Painters Costumed Life Drawing

This model was so exciting to draw. His super exaggerated features and his unique costume brought the whole piece to life. I exaggerated on his features a little more than they really were but if were a cartoon... this is what he would definitely look like!  Also this was my first time working with gouache paints, I liked the way I was able to get a lot of detail yet also have delicate strokes at the same time!

Pre Raphaelite Costumed Life Drawing

3 hour pose at the Drawing Club. The model was really great and fit the part of her character so well. This piece was done with pastels, I wanted to go extreme with the color choice and lighting. I love her hair color and all the details of her even though she may have seemed very simple.

American Chinese New Years Card

This is a custom handmade American Stylized Chinese New Years card. Made for a little 5 year old Chinese American Girl. It was a great way for her to start off her Chinese New Year. She was born the year of the Monkey, hence the monkey illustration on her card instead of the Tiger.

American Chinese New Years Card

This card was a custom handmade card for a little Chinese American girl. It was a great start  to her Chinese New Year Celebration. She is only 3 years old and born the year of the dog, hence the Puppy on the card instead of a Tiger!

Caricatures on Bowls!

I drew some caricatures on bowls as a Christams gift. I had to go to a Ceramic studio and use their supplies. It was a lot of fun but challenging becasue the bowls recede back as you get towards the bottom! But it was sucha great idea as a personalized gift! I definitely recommend it!

Miss Miley Cyrus - Hannah Montana, caricature. From one of her music videos from '08. Finished in Illustrator. Lots and lots of shapes & layers & groups to get all the highlighting and detail. It took a few days because of all the layering and shapes but had a lot of fun!

Super Dad!

This was for a birthday cake. The caricature was put on a cake for his birthday. I can't say the layout idea was mine, though. The daughter gave me an illustration and asked me to change it up to fit her dads hobbies! (completed in Photoshop)
